Today, cardiac Positron Emission Tomography (PET) has become the preferred test for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD). The advantages of PET and PET/CT include: higher sensitivity, specificity and accuracy, better resolution leading to improved image quality, lower radiation exposure to the staff and patient, fewer attenuation artifacts, and improved efficiency and speed.
These advantages have shown improvements in procedure accuracy particularly for obese patients, women with large breasts, patients scheduled for pharmacological stress intervention, and patients with inconclusive SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging studies.
MIS leads the industry in proving innovative service enhancements for Cardiology organizations. This approach allows groups to continually offer new tools and services to better diagnose and treat their patient communities.
Myocardial Blood Flow (MBF) Assessment is another recent enhancement which MIS can offer, with the requisite software, training and follow-up, in a relatively seamless integration to your existing Cardiac PET Program. MBF provides additional data which can improve diagnosis and risk stratification in combination with PET myocardial perfusion results. It can identify whether vasodilator stress was successful, further categorize normal perfusion into an even lower risk for CAD and balanced ischemia, and assist in determining the potential severity of CAD in patients with abnormal perfusion. MBF will be reimbursed by CMS and certain other insurers starting in 2020. MIS will work with you and your staff to successfully bring this key diagnostic tool to your market, increasing your value to cardiac patients throughout the region.
Are you looking to improve clinical outcomes and efficiency and increase profitability? Our process starts with a consultation to help you analyze your PET opportunity. This will provide a realistic and comprehensive report of key focal points for your practice including: possible reduction of radiation exposure to patients and staff, elimination of attenuation artifacts in your images, and other areas potentially impacted by cardiac PET and PET/CT imaging.
