Supply Chains Are Reorganizing Around Fewer, Larger Players

Diana’s opening noteThis week felt like the calm before EANM. We’re heading into Vienna with real Phase 3 data in hand rather than promises, and — just as notably — our industry’s ownership map is shifting under us. I want this issue to leave you with one question: do you actually know who supplies your PSMA agents, and is that about to change?

Editor’s Spotlight

EANM’s 39th Congress opens Saturday in Vienna on the back of a week stacked with fresh PSMA radioligand data: Telix’s upcoming interim results for 177Lu-panPSMA and a 62% risk-reduction follow-up from the LUNAR trial, published this week in European Urology. At the same time, Lantheus shareholders cleared the $8 billion Curium merger, and GE HealthCare expanded its PET isotope production footprint. Clinical momentum and supply-chain consolidation are now moving on the same calendar, and programs should be watching both.

Story of the Week

A European Urology follow-up of the Phase 2 LUNAR trial found that giving 177Lu-PNT2002 before stereotactic ablative radiotherapy cut the risk of progression, added hormone therapy, or death by 62% compared with SBRT alone, at a median follow-up of 31.9 months, in men with oligorecurrent, hormone-sensitive prostate cancer. A third of combination patients had no detectable cancer at two years, versus 12% with SBRT alone, with no new safety signals — the clearest sign yet that sequencing radioligand therapy earlier, before disease becomes widespread, has a durable payoff.

Clinical News

Telix will present topline Phase 3 data at EANM for its Illuccix PSMA PET imaging agent in Chinese men with biochemical recurrence, as part of a broader data package that also includes interim results for its 177Lu-panPSMA radioligand candidate in mCRPC.

A Journal of Nuclear Medicine preclinical study evaluated a radiohybrid rhPSMA-10.1 ligand labeled with both fluorine-18 and actinium-225, reporting tumor targeting and dosimetry that support a combined PSMA PET imaging and alpha-therapy pairing — an early but notable step toward theranostic agents built on a single molecular scaffold.

Business & Industry Intelligence

Lantheus shareholders voted October 14 to approve the Curium merger, clearing the deal’s key shareholder hurdle with more than 55.4 million votes in favor; Curium will acquire Lantheus for $102.50 per share in cash plus contingent value rights worth up to $12 per share, with the deal still subject to remaining regulatory approvals and an expected close in the first half of 2027.

GE HealthCare’s MINItrace Magni cyclotron won CE Mark approval for on-site radioisotope production, and the company expanded its PETtrace Solid Target Platform to add copper-64 — both moves aimed at broadening PET and theranostic tracer capacity closer to the point of care.

Eckert & Ziegler Brazil and TerThera signed a supply agreement for GMP-grade, carrier-free terbium-161, restoring a South American radioisotope pipeline TerThera last supplied six years ago and giving Brazilian developers direct access to next-generation radioligand therapy ingredients.

Practice insightMap your PSMA supply vendors before year-end.With the Curium-Lantheus merger past its shareholder vote and still awaiting regulatory clearance, programs should document which PSMA PET agents and radioligand therapies route through each company today, model what a distribution or pricing shift could mean, and assign one person to track the integration timeline through close.

Clinical Trials to Watch

PTherpan-Lu (Telix) — interim data for 177Lu-panPSMA in mCRPC, to be presented at EANM on October 19; full results expected as the trial matures.

TheraPb (AdvanCell) — updated Phase 1b dose-escalation results for 212Pb-ADVC001, a PSMA-targeted alpha-therapy, presented at ESMO on October 23.

LUNAR (Lantheus) — Phase 2 follow-up (177Lu-PNT2002 plus SBRT) shows durable benefit at 31.9-month median follow-up in oligorecurrent disease.

AcTFirst — Phase 3 trial comparing 225Ac-PSMA-617 plus ARPI to standard of care in PSMA-positive mCRPC continues enrollment.

Industry Movers & News in Brief

IBA and Framatome formed Ekalia, a 50/50 joint venture to build industrial-scale astatine-211 production sites starting in France in 2028, expanding the alpha-emitter supply base next-generation targeted radiotherapies will need.

A new market forecast projects the alpha-emitting radioligand therapy market to reach $3.01 billion by 2035, citing precision-oncology demand and isotope-supply expansion.

A companion Journal of Nuclear Medicine study proposes an AI visual-question-answering tool to help predict survival in patients on PSMA-targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy.

Upcoming events: EANM’26 Annual Congress October 17–21, Vienna, Austria; ESMO Congress 2026 October 23–27, Madrid, Spain; the SNMMI Theranostics Conference November 4–7, Rockville, MD; and RSNA 2026 November 29–December 3, Chicago, IL.

Diana’s takeThe real signal this week isn’t another trial readout — it’s consolidation. Lantheus shareholders clearing the Curium merger, paired with GE HealthCare’s isotope-production expansion, means PSMA PET and radioligand supply chains are reorganizing around fewer, larger players. Map your vendor dependencies now, before EANM’s data wave reshapes referral and sequencing conversations next week.
